His Worship Amanjit Singh Brar

Justice of the Peace Amanjit Singh Brar was appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice in August 2017. Prior to his appointment, he served as acting Director of Investigations at the Office of the Toronto Ombudsman. During his legal career, he worked at the Office of the Ontario Ombudsman for eight years, in roles including Legal Counsel. Prior to this, he practised civil and criminal litigation in Mississauga in a boutique litigation firm.Currently, Justice of the Peace Brar presides in the Central West Region, predominantly in Brampton

Jacob Sone, Assistant Crown Attorney 

Jacob Sone is an Assistant Crown Attorney at the Peel Crown Attorney’s Office. Jacob was called to the bar in 2009 after articling at the Crown Law Office – Criminal. He worked briefly as counsel in that office before joining the Peel Crown, where he has remained (except for returning to CLOC for a secondment in 2018). Before the pandemic Jacob became Peel’s primary bail vettor and he continues to work in that role. 

Tonya Kent, Tonya Kent Criminal Defence

Tonya Kent currently runs her own practice, Tonya Kent Criminal Defence in Toronto. Before starting her own practice, she worked at two criminal defence firms and articled at Legal Aid Ontario. She has always been a fierce and passionate advocate for her clients and wears her politics on her sleeve. She is currently the Recent Call Director – Toronto on the Criminal Lawyers’ Association (CLA), a member of the CLA’s Women’s Committee, the Membership Committee, and the Diversity Committee, and lastly a board member on the Choice in Health Clinic located in Toronto.
